From July 28 to July 30, 2023, the 5th ACM China Turing Conference was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. At the conference, the ACM China "Rising Star Award" and "Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award" were presented to recognize outstanding young researchers and outstanding recent doctoral graduates in the field of computer science. After individual applications and expert reviews, our faculty member, Professor Li Meng, won the 2021 ACM Hefei Branch "Rising Star Award", and Professor Zhao Shan won the 2021 Changsha Branch "Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award" and the 2021 ACM SIGWEB CHINA "Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award".
To commend the research achievements of young scholars in the field of computer science in China and further promote the development and progress of young scholars in the field of scientific research, the ACM China Council established the ACM China Rising Star Award in 2014. Each year, 1-2 young scholars who have demonstrated outstanding research potential in the field of computer science are selected as winners. The selection of this award is based on the impact of the new ideas, models, and systems created by the candidates in the field of computer and/or communication systems. The research results can be theoretical, empirical, or experimental. Depth and influence are important factors considered in the award. The winners will also receive a reward of 10,000 RMB. The award ceremony will be held during the ACM China Turing Conference in the following year. The ACM Hefei Branch is a secondary branch established by the ACM China Council in mainland China with the approval of the ACM headquarters, dedicated to providing quality services for computer professionals in Anhui Province and surrounding areas.
