Invited by the College of Computer and Information Science, at 10:00 AM on August 2, 2023, Professor Wang Lu from the University of Michigan, USA, gave an academic lecture titled "Causal Inference Machine Learning for Dynamic Decision Making" in Room 1602, Block A, Jade Science and Education Building for our faculty and students. Teachers and students from relevant research directions of the college attended the lecture.
Professor Wang Lu is a tenured professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan, USA, the deputy director of the department, and a renowned international statistician. Her research areas include statistical methods for evaluating and optimizing dynamic treatment regimes, personalized medicine, causal inference, non-parametric and semi-parametric regression, missing data analysis, and longitudinal (correlated/clustered) data analysis, etc.
During the lecture, Professor Wang Lu shared the latest scientific research results of her team, focusing on how to use causal inference and machine learning and other related technologies to analyze the clinical characteristics of tumor patients, thereby further providing personalized diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients. Professor Wang Lu's lecture sparked strong interest among the attendees, and a heated discussion was held after the lecture.
