To further strengthen students' learning of knowledge related to the field of radar, expand everyone's understanding of the application field of radar at home and abroad, and enhance interest in the direction of radar, at the invitation of Professor Zhou Hongping, Researcher Wu Jun from Sichuang Electronics Co., Ltd. conducted a special lecture on "Continuous Wave Radar Principles and Development Status" at 2 pm on October 23 in Room 102, Building 11, Feicui Lake Campus of our school. The lecture was hosted by Professor Zhou Hongping, and more than 100 graduate and undergraduate students from the college participated.
Researcher Wu Jun started from the essence of electromagnetic waves and eloquently explained how radar perceives the world. Then, he analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of video detection and radar detection, concluding that radar can effectively compensate for the limitations of video detection methods. He then comprehensively elaborated on the definition, advantages and disadvantages, classification, and application scenarios of continuous wave radar. He subsequently introduced the application of continuous wave radar both domestically and internationally, which greatly broadened the students' horizons, showing them the wide range of radar applications. For example, wind measuring radar, rain measuring radar, cloud measuring radar, airport surface surveillance radar, airport approach radar, airport runway foreign object detection radar FOD, drone detection radar, ground surveillance radar GSR, security perimeter radar, traffic speed measurement and car collision avoidance radar, micro deformation radar used for detecting mines, bridges, dam deformation or landslide prediction, material level and flow rate measurement, small radar that can see golf balls, etc. Finally, he explained the principle of continuous wave radar ranging, and that continuous wave radar is suitable for detecting close-range targets, with small blind spots and high accuracy. During the report, Researcher Wu Jun, combining his own work experience, advised everyone to solve problems according to actual needs and to master a certain category in the knowledge system as much as possible. The students thanked Researcher Wu Jun for his wonderful report with warm applause. This report was very beneficial to them.
Through this lecture, students' understanding of the domestic radar application field was further strengthened, effectively enhancing their interest and enthusiasm for radar-related research. Inviting part-time teachers into the classroom, bringing in fresh business cases, and complementing theoretical teaching, presents better teaching results.
